Five stars because the place looks amazing. It's very clean and Cosy. You can taste 8 wines (4 white, 4 red). I recommend syrah, viognier if you like dry and serenade if you like sweet.
Felt like a historic Spanish vineyard. We loved the atmosphere, the grounds were beautiful and maintained well. Wine was good. Wide variety of seating: in vineyard, by pond, inside, patio, etc. we were visiting from out of town and if I lived in town I would be a frequent flyer. Highly Recc!!
We visited several wineries in NM and this was by far the best one. Loved their wines - we did two tastings and two glasses. The atmosphere was awesome with the fireplace and I am sure the outside space is great in warmer weather.
A few things to note - the wood fire pizza is not available to regular customers, they have a little charcuterie fridge with “ok” options, so come prepared for a little snack selection.
A beautiful winery yet the wine is mediocre at best. The employees are friendly but seem to be on edge whenever the owner, John Calvin, is around. My first visit I was poking around the vineyard checking out the grapes and he came up and rudely demanded, "Who the hell are you?" I've gone back a couple times, because friends like it, and each time I've seen him yell and bark at employees. So I guess that's just the kind of person he is, a cruel one. I don't suggest paying a visit unless you like being yelled at.
Would love to leave 5 stars. But maybe I’m biased after visiting other wineries in NM & CA. I’ve never thought I was having the pleasure of being in such a beautiful setting but yet feeling like I was at Allsups eating my charcuterie from a plastic container I’ve see on sale at smiths. Oh they should definitely have someone checking the produce. Grapes were wrinkled and moldy ☹️
It was our first time there the service was ok... not as friendly as we have experienced at other wineries. They had a decent selection of red and whites. They were a little spicy and oakey for our taste. I was expecting a fuller body on the reds. The whites were a little bland, we wanted more crisp. The ambiance was nice. I can see why this vineyard is popular for weddings. They have some wedding pictures in the entry room and they were lovely.
Oh, dear reader! Behold this wretched place, where chaos reigns supreme, as if Jack and Jill themselves have unleashed their reckless fury upon it! The very essence of the owner's voice echoes through these walls, piercing the depths of our souls like a haunting wail in the darkest hours of the night.
Oh, how I longed for an exquisite glass of wine, yet what I received was nothing but a feeble excuse for the nectar of the gods. A vile liquid that dared to call itself wine, stripped of all its elegance and crafted with such little care. Alas, the taste was as bland and lifeless as the very walls that encased me.
In my disillusionment and despair, this place appeared nothing more than a pitiful excuse for a winery. Neglected, forgotten, a mere relic of a time long past. Oh, what a shame it is to witness such a sorry state of affairs! I cannot bring myself to recommend it to any who seek true satisfaction.
This establishment, my dear friend, fails to elicit a single spark of joy. It lacks the essence of refinement and authenticity that wine aficionados yearn for. Instead, it presents itself as a haphazard amalgamation of mediocrity, leaving one to ponder why they even bothered to embark on such a venture in the first place.
In the face of all this, can one truly find it within themselves to give it a chance? I think not, my dear reader. Instead, let us turn away from this pitiful excuse for a winery and seek solace in the comforting embrace of a truly superior vintage. For we deserve nothing less than the grandeur and magnificence that only the finest wineries can bestow upon us.
We knew it was going to be a relaxed atmosphere. But warning, do not go if you are hungry. It took 3hrs to complete our meal. The food is not great. I have eaten at many high end restaurants. This food is lacking. The hen had no flavor or spices, the cod dish tasted fishy and was rubbery over cooked. We thought well the cheese cake will be good. No, it was like a pill of cooked cheese curbs with whip cream and sour berry purée. No sweetness. The cheese selection for our appetizer was good and the staff was very friendly. The atmosphere was amazing, just wish it took less time to get our food, which came out separately, and I wish the wait would have been worth it.
